4-25: Whole Foods, Not the Store (Build a Nutrition+Hydration Habit)
Well, good morning. Hello, mornings. Welcome to April 25th. This is Kath Lee. And this month, we're talking all about fuel.
Kat Lee:How can we give our bodies the nutrients and hydration it needs to do the things that God's calling us to do with excellence and with joy? Because everything is easier when we're taking care of ourselves. So today's tip, and again, we're trying to provide tips all throughout the month that are simple. We're not looking to restrict ourselves or suffer. We're simply trying to give our bodies great nutrients.
Kat Lee:So today's tip is just to focus on eating whole foods rather than counting nutrients or calories. It can often be our tendency that when we wanna eat healthier, we start counting calories, we start maybe counting macros, we start weighing our food or weighing ourself. But an easier approach and maybe a more long term and healthier approach is just to really focus on eating whole actual foods instead of counting all the things. Will you reach your goals if you have particular goals as quickly? Maybe not.
Kat Lee:But I believe it'll be more sustainable, and especially if you're simply looking to build your energy rather than reach a particular goal, then this might be the simplest solution for you. So what do I mean by whole foods? Well, one answer to that is just if if you recognize it from nature, then it's a whole food. So Cheetos would not be a whole food. Grapes would be a whole food.
Kat Lee:Doritos, not a whole food. Popcorn, that could be a whole food. So not everything in this category is going to be the most perfect healthy thing. However, it's a simple thing to focus on. Do I recognize this thing from nature?
Kat Lee:If so, I'm going to eat it. If not, I'm going to rethink that. That could be eating fruits and vegetables. One thing that people often suggest is to eat from the perimeter of the store. On the perimeter of the store, you're going to find your fruits and your vegetables and your meats.
Kat Lee:You're going to find a lot of your frozen food. So, yeah, ice cream is gonna be in there, but you could also get some, frozen chocolate covered banana slices. That's far more healthy than a pint of ice cream. So as you look to eat your meals, as you look to snack, what are some ways you can incorporate more whole foods and fewer processed foods? It's just a simpler way to eat healthy where you don't have to count and track everything, But you know that you're getting some extra nutrients in, and you're eating a little bit better fuel for your body.
Kat Lee:Alright, friends. If you've not had your 3 minute morning, you're not too late. You're right on time, and it is coming up next.
